PROJECT:
Integrated Control and Monitor System (ICMS)
LOCATION: Throughout the United States CLIENT: DOT/FAA, Washington, DC
PROJECT VALUE: $7.0 Million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Integrated Control and Monitor System (ICMS) allows Air Traffic personnel to control and monitor all of the Navigational and Visual Aids equipment from a computer based user interface that can be set up in multiple locations throughout the airport. These locations can include the Tower CAB, TRACON, Equipment Rooms, as well as other locations. Windows based Workstations using Touch Screens and a Graphical User Interface (GUI), to present a common look and feel to the user, provide access to all of the equipment. In addition to the control and monitoring capabilities, ICMS provides many additional features including interlock configuration control, archiving and facility configuration management. The system has been designed to enhance safety, reliability and operational effectiveness of the entire air traffic control system.
The ICMS redundant architectural design allows for the loss of any one subcomponent without affecting the overall functionality of the system. This is accomplished with all major sub-components being duplicated. Backup is automatic, failsafe and does not change the status of the remote NAVAIDS and VISAIDS equipment will not be effected.
