UNIQUE FEATURES: Constructability reviews for the I-405 Del Amo Overcrossing project identified areas that were modified to save $1.5 million for the City, an 11.5 percent savings.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Approximately 800 meters of Del Amo Boulevard (west of Avalon Boulevard to west of the San Diego Freeway I-405) was the only section remaining, to complete the highway in accordance with the LACMPH.
The project includes approximately 760-meters of new roadway and bridge improvements, varying between 26.1 and 31.9 meters wide. The new roadway spans I-405, Dominguez Channel and Macco Channel to accommodate six travel lanes, a concrete median island, left turn lanes, curb and gutter, sidewalks, retaining wall, northbound weigh-station on ramp modification, drainage improvements and utility relocation. To efficiently complete this project, extensive night construction was required. The project required coordination with U.S. Fish and Wildlife services, US Army Corps of Engineers and California Department of Fish and Game coordination.
